Hello! Wow it's been a while since I've posted. I have been super busy lately. We went on a trip to Hawaii, I've been getting ready to be PTA president next year, and I could go on and on... But I am happy to be back :) I have a few fun projects I've done lately and also I have redone my bedroom. So I will share some pics from these as well as a few from my trip... The first one I found on Pinterest and it was super easy but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way it turned out so I thought I would share.I used old coke bottles as bracelet holders. And I just can't stop staring at them :)

Leprechaun Trap

The leprechaun trap is set! The kids had so much fun with this easy trap! We just covered a shoe box with aluminum foil and decorated with very shiny stickers. Then went on a hunt to find gold and shiny things around the house to use as bait and held it up with a stick.

So excited to see if we catch some leprechauns and get their gold!!!

Family Party

On Sunday we had a Family Party for Braden. I must of still been exhausted because I really did not take many pics. But it was a nice afternoon of visiting and eating the delicious Backyardigans cake!

It finally arrived! Braden's birthday! He has been counting down for at least two weeks now (i.e. "Mom 14 days until I turn 5)! I woke up to my little man jumping up on my bed telling me "Mom I'm 5 now!" He has been soooo excited about turning 5. Well once we got up from our morning snuggle we were greeted by another wonderful snow storm. Which is made even better when the present he has wanted the most was a big boy bike.... But we just rode the bike around the house instead :)

But we were too excited to let that get us down! So off to the kitchen we went... I threw the cinnamon rolls in the oven and we started to open presents. (I made the pom-poms which amazed Braden almost as much as his presents) And were pleasantly surprised by Tom stopping in to watch us open presents for a minute!

Then later that night we headed to Pizza Factory for dinner and Fat Cats for bowling! It was a super fun night with some of our favorite people! Then we went home and crashed, what a special day!

We started a new family tradition this year. Tom & I wrote down some predictions of what we thought would happen during the next year. The kids wrote about there favorite things, drew a picture, and said what they wanted to happen most in the next year.

We then sealed them up in this cute box and put it away with the Holiday decorations to be opened Jan 1, 2012!

Every New Years Eve we have a tradition of having a fancy dinner at home by candle light. We also always have sparking cider. The kids love to drink from the fancy wine glasses!

But there was one small problem... I had no time to cook this year!!! I had to work! So what's a girl to do? Panda Express to the rescue gotta love that orange chicken!

After dinner I left for work feeling bummed that I would not be able to kiss my hubby at midnight. But, you gotta do what you gotta do. Then I got the most pleasant surprise... I got off work early at 11:30 and was able to make it home just in time to smooch my sweetie! What a great night!

This was a pretty easy challenge for me it was really just cleaning up some of the clutter that had found its way here over the holiday season. And then rearranging to give me some work space...

I also finished putting together my budget binder. In it is a calendar, a list of monthly expenses compared to our income, and page protectors to put my bills in to pay. And of course I had to put some of my favorite pics on the front! I LOVE these! They always make me laugh. Which is def a good thing when it comes to paying bills :)

Day 1- Junk Drawer

Todays challenge is to clean out a junk drawer. I don't really have a junk drawer as I have limited drawers so every drawer has a very specific purpose. The junkiest drawer in my house would have to be my nightstand. It tends to be a gathering place of things that need a home. I started out by emptying out the drawer and only putting back what I really use in that drawer. The result was a much less cluttered drawer.

Hi! I am feeling much better today! YAY! Maddison had a pretty good day at school. She still wants to be home but at least says school wasn't THAT bad. :) I take it as a compliment that she isn't sick of me by the end of summer :P Anyways for the 1st day of school we always do a 1st day gift. This year I tried making the kids Schultuete school cones. (I gave Braden his early. I knew he wouldn't want to wait) It's a tradition in Germany. The kids loved them!

While doing some blog reading I stumbled across a post at Love Stitched where she shows us what is in here bag and asks us what is in ours. I thought this sounded like fun! So here you are... I have everything I could ever want or need in here!

The coolest thing I can tell you about my purse is that it has divided sections inside! They are amazing! It keeps my purse clean and everything easy to find. It is a Butler bag. For the longest time I had one on my wish list but they are super expensive. (Check out their website- you will drool!) But then one day I read somewhere they sold a line at KMart (I know crazy!!!) so off I ran (that day) and bought this one for around $20! I love it! I have always been a purse person, changing my purses daily but now I can't bear to use any others.

Here is a little craft love for you all... I am so sorry I have been slacking. These are quick, easy and cute!

They are pretty self explanitory but I thought I'd go through the steps real fast...

I cut out three circles in different sizes and a couple of leaves from felt. Then just glued them to a hair clip and stick on a button. SO easy! And will be so cute for back to school!

Today Maddison conquered her fear of riding her bike without training wheels! She has been ready for while but has been afraid. Well today she decided it was time. She was off and riding within an hour of taking them off! I am so proud of her! Good Job Maddison!

Ribbon Canvas Art

Hi! Yay I'm finally able to post up some of the crafts I have been working on! I am so sorry I didn't take any pics as I was making these but they are so super easy I promise you won't need them! Here is what I did...
I started out with some canvases one was 11X16 the other was probably 18X18.
I then took some cute fabric and glued it to the canvas.
I hot glued it to the back.
I then picked out 2 colors of ribbon and hot glued them on the back as well.
I admit I eye-balled them but you could measure them as well.
There you go so easy but so cute. I will then pick out some of my fave pics and such to slide in the ribbon. Enjoy!
*Oh ya I almost forgot the big one is for Mad's room and the little one goes in my craft space!

The time has come. Time to Redo the Giant M. This was one of the first crafts I made for Maddison when she was born. I love it but it is just not going to match with her big girl room. So here is the before...

I first painted it With DecoArts Dazziling Metallic Elegant finish in Black Pearl. It's a really neat color because it has a bit of Silverish glimmer to it. It's really pretty!

Here it is painted. See the shimmer in it...

I then Mod Podged on some pieces of scrap paper. I cut them in different sized squares and rectangles and pieced them together. Then I used some of the same paint and mixed it a bit with water and painted it around the edges for a little distressed look.

Then all I had left was to glue on the new hot pink ribbon and hang it! taa daa! Love it! I can't wait to keep going with her room and see it all finished!

This is the place Heritage Park

Today This is the Place Heritage Park had a free day. This is the place is a park dedicated to the pioneers that founded SLC. They have old buildings, items, and actors being the pioneers. So I threw my to-do list to the wind and took the kids on down. I am so happy I did! We had such a fun time! They had a whole bunch of activities going on. They had crafts, singers, and games. We had so much fun doing all these then checked out all the old buildings. It was a great afternoon and I always have tomorrow to do my projects... (right?)

I really like any. I do love Olive Garden, Noodles Co., Red Lobster, Joe's Crab Shack, Cheesecake Co, Applebees

I pretty much like any music! My fave is to play Ipod roulette where I just put my Ipod on shuffle and play it all day long. It has everything!

3. What do you watch on TV?

Mostly kid shows. Although I do love the late night my name is Earl repeats :) i also like a lot of the shows on PBS.

4. Do you enjoy reading and if so what kind of

I love reading and will read whatever book comes my way.

My all time fave is purple. Though I love teal, lime green, and pink a lot too!

New Light Switch

Please excuse the disgusting switch and screws re-doing the cover made me realize that I need to replace these as well. So that will be next to do on my list. But wow I love the way the cover turned out I just couldn't wait to show off how cute it is! And it was so easy too! All I did was find some paper I liked, (I actually even printed mine off the internet) cut it to size with a little overlap to fold around the back, then mod podged it to my cover plate with 3 coats then sprayed a protective coat on it. Lots of extra protection as it is for my 7yo daughters room.

We had a very fun 4th of July celebration yesterday. (Yes we live in UT so we celebrate on the 3rd because of the 4th is on a Sun.) We started out by going to the Magna parade. We ended up just having a BBQ with our little fam as I wasn't feeling up to the big BBQ this year. We then lit fireworks with our neighbors then watched the big ones from our yard.

Oh my heck it was like my birthday all over again today! A little while ago I won a give away over at Tatertots & Jello. I won $40 to spend from Flapper Fashion! I was in heaven she had so many cute things. I really wanted to just get one of everything. But alas my budget is a no go. But just look at all these cute things I got. I love them all and have been planning my outfits around the accessories! Maddison is way jealous of my new treats and is already begging to wear them I may just have to go order her some of her own. I made these coasters for gifts the other day and love how they turned out I think I am going to make some for me! They were so easy. Here's how I made them.

1. Paint them
2. Cut out the circles from your fave paper (I made 3" circles on my cricut)

1. Do you have any siblings?

Yep one sister who is 2 1/2 years younger than me

Yep one darling daughter who is 7 and one handsome son who is 4

3. Are you a morning or night person?

Def a night person! I work a grave shift 3-4 days a week but have always been unable to sleep at night...

4.Are you organized or spontaneous?

I would say a little bit of each. As I get older it seems I become more and more organized. I also think having my son with Aspergers has really made me more of a planner. But I still cherish spontanity!

5. What is your typical 4th of July like? Laid back at home? Community celebrations? etc...?

We wake up and go to the morning parade and walk in it all dressed up in our 4th outfits. And pull along our decorated wagon. Then we go over to the carnival and play some fun games. We usually eat lunch out. Then we head home and start decorating and getting ready for our family BBQ. We then have Hubby's fam over (usually over 50 people) for our BBQ. Then we watch the Town's fireworks from our yard. They are super close. Then light of our own. It's one of my fave days of the year! So excited!!!

Today we went to the Taylorsville Dayzz Parade! It really gets us in the mood for the 4th! It's like a giant pre-party! Tonight we will be having a BBQ and watching fireworks then my awesome mom is making me a fruit pizza to celebrate for my Bday next week

Today we made Cupcakes! And they turned out so YUMMY! I think my kitchen table scape is finally complete.

Here they are along with the stands I made. I have seen versions of them all over blog land. Here is my take I actually got the table and bowl from the dollar store then epoxied them together.

I have had to take a little break from my crafts (sigh ) but for good reason. I am making myself a craft space in my upstairs landing! YAY! Here is a little sneak peak of what I have been up to. I have been sorting through my many little craft areas and putting all my misc. things in containers. It sounds easy but has been no small task. Now I'm ready for the shelves to put them on! We have so many I don't know if I could choose just one. We make every holiday a big deal. I guess I will talk about the 4th since that's coming up... We decorate bikes or wagons and ourselves and walk in the parade, then go to the carnival, then we have a BBQ at our house with all of my hubbys side of the family (100+ people) watch the fireworks (from our front yard) then light our own

4. Is there anything you are OC about?
Schedules! I like thing to be done the same time every day. Or on the same day every week.

5. What is your favorite kind of food?

Anything Chocolate!!! Or type would prob be Italian.

Patriotic Center Piece

I absolutely LOVE the way my center piece turned out and it was super easy to boot! First I took a large terra potta pot base and painted it blue and red on the outside and white on the inside. I then took a large votive and glued star shaped rhinestones to it. For the firecrackers we wrapped toilet paper rolls and a paper towel roll in decorative paper and put decorative toothpicks into the tops. My daughter decorated the one in the front for girl scouts and it just fit in perfectly! And we threw in a 4th decoration we already had just to help fill it in!

Father's Day

I think it's close enough now to Father's Day I can post the projects I made this year. First off this is for Tom. 8 X 10 Photo collage of the kids and Tom. We also got 2 more Wii controls and nunchucks and a charger so that we can all play as a family. Yay!

The rest of these gifts I made for Tom as well as both of our dads... thanks to all of you fantastically creative people out in blog land! You made my life so much easier this year helping me figure out what to do :)

New chore system- Part 1

So here at the Flores house we have a bit of a problem getting the kids to do their daily chores. I feel like lately it has been nothing but me nagging. So now we are going to start a new system. First off they are getting a raise... (Mad is SUPER excited) they will be going from .25 a day to a possibility of .50 a day.

I made all of these cute little magnets by printing pics off the internet gluing on little scrapbooking paper squares then laminating then gluing magnets on the back. I then stuck them to my magnetic kitchen door. They will then move the magnets from to do to done after doing each item. First thing the next morning we will sit down and go over the magnets from the day before together and they will earn .05 each for each one that is done. No more nagging. If they are done they get paid if not they miss out...

We are also going to start up a different system for dividing up the money for savings, spendings, and charity. But that is not quite finished so stay tuned...

Patriotic Tutu Tutorial

We are getting ready for the 4th of July at our house! It is no small holiday around here... We have been getting Mad's outfit ready to wear in the parade. We made this cute tulle tutu. Sorry I didn't take pics as I went but it's pretty easy to figure out.
Step 1- First cut a piece of non-roll elastic the width of your little ones waste. Then put around a book or binder for stability.
Step 2- Cut out strips of tulle 6 inches wide and double the length that you want the tutu to be Step 3- Tie and double knot tulle strips to elastic band until satisfied with fullness.

It also looks really cute if you add in ribbons! Just tie them on as well. I still may do this but am currently short on my patriotic colored ribbons. Enjoy!!!

He is always willing to help. He loves me no matter what! He has taught me so much useful every day stuff. He is a fun grandpa.

Wow so many! Lemon, lavender, citrus, vanilla, chocolate, fresh washed laundry, babies, after rain

3. What is your favorite Holiday?
Christmas! But we try to make every holiday really special!

4. What did you want to be when you grew up?
So many things... First a pediatrician, then a nurse now it's a teacher

5. How many different places have you lived, towns not houses?
Well I have pretty much lived in Salt Lake my whole life. just different parts. All about 10 or 15 mins. from each other

Lamp Shades- The dollar store craft challenge-

So on one of my new favorite crafting blogs thecsiproject.com they have a contest going where you have to make a craft from stuff you find at the dollar store... So away I went. The kids found treasure after treasure but I had the hardest time figuring out what I wanted to do. Then I stumbled across these little night light lamp shades. But the fabric and trimming on them were UGLY!!! So home they went...

Step 1- Rip off all the creative fabric and trimming choices. Then I used that piece of fabric as a pattern to cut out from some reminents I already had. (This one goes in my kitchen)

Step 2- I then glued on the fabric and then some ribbon on the edges!

I also had to do some repair work to make the ring stay in the shade! Thank you hot glue!!!

And voila! Here is the finished shade for my kitchen. Super cute and Super Easy! And it only cost me $1 to make! Can't go wrong there :)

Sock puppet Dust Bunnies!

Today we made these lovely bunnies! These were so easy & the kids have really been playing with them all day today! We started with a pair of micro-fiber socks then I drew a bunny face on them and the kids traced with fabric paint. We then glued on a large pom pom. Now the best part we spritzed these with dust wax and the kids run around the house seeing how much dust the kids can pick up! Love it- Entertainment and getting my house cleaned in one!

Summer Flip Flops

Today me and the kids (yup Braden too, he HAD to have a pair) made these really fun flip flops I have seen floating around blogland. Super easy you just take small water balloons and tie them on the flip flops. It took about 35 a shoe. So fun and the kids LOVE them!!!

Summer Fun Box

So summer is here! Today we made boxes to keep all of our summer art supplies in as well as our Lakebridge Summer books and reading charts! The kids had so much fun decorating them up!
We used some of my Priority Mailing boxes and art supplies from around the house. I also figure as we craft through out the summer we can continue adding to the boxes so by the end of summer we will have some VERY fancy boxes.

(I know Braden's has a flower but he was jealous so why not :) )

First Fishing Trip

Saturday June 5 was free fishing day. We had a very fun day trip with Grandparents Jensen and Aunt Amy. We went up to Utah Lake for their fishing festival. We then went up to Deer Creek Resevoir and put our poles in the water. We didn't catch any fish but had lots of fun anyways!

Going Green- Goodbye Papertowels!!!

So in an attempt at going green I trying to greatly reduce my consumption of paper towels. I literally go through a roll every day or two :O CRAZY!!!

So of course being the crafter I am I had to make a cute container to put them in first. I was so excited I used only things I had around the house.

An old wipe container, Twine from my gardening supplies, and hot glue. Pretty self explanitory.

Then I got some of Tom's old Ts and cut them up into squares.

There easy peasy... now I can snag one of these instead of a paper towel. And when I'm done throw them in the wash with my kitchen linens. Or if it's TOO messy I can still throw it away.

New Wall Art

So here it is!!! I finally decided on what to put above my couch in my family room (HUGE blank wall). It's kinda hard to tell what's going on exactly because of my white walls. But they will be painted during the summer. It's and empty frame I found at the thrift store. Then hanging inside is a wreath I made by gluing Lima Beans onto a straw wreath. (sounds crazy but looked so cute on other peoples blogs I had to try it). Then spray painted it my accent blue color! Voila & the whole project cost under $10! And I figure I can also put my seasonal wreathes in as well. What fun decor! So here is my prob... I don't know how to attach the wreaths. Ribbon? How should I tie it? A Hook? Just can't decide. Remember the walls will be painted soon, I think yellow. Any opinions would be much appreciated!

I'm feeling some summer vibes here! YAY!!!! 1st patriotic craft of the year! This is the start of my summer center piece. It has a picket glued to it. Then did the stars out of felt. I just tied the ribbon on because I am thinking it might be fun to change up the fence with different seasons and holidays...

So in preparation for Summer I have been setting some new household rules (as fighting has been on the rise lately).

Here are the new & improved family rules! Also a sneak preview of some of my family room colors :)

And here is the best idea yet! I found it on a blog an wish I could remember which so I could give that person credit... But it's a spinning wheel to help us figure out whose turn it is... (i.e. who gets to choose the movie, who does a favor for mom, picking a game, etc. )

Hopefully this will help keep a peaceful home this summer! Wish me luck ;)

Braden's Big day!!!

I am one proud Mommy today! Braden graduated from his 1st year of preschool!!! It is so amazing to see how much he has grown in the past school year! When he first started he was still barely talking, would scream and ball for me not to leave, and didn't really play with the other kids. Now he has so many cute friends! He loves school and keeps asking when he gets to go back. And as you all know can carry on a conversation with the best of them! He had such great teachers and I am so thankful for all the time they spent with him. He ended up graduating well above level! For the graduation they did a slide show, diplomas, and cookies! What a fun morning and here's to a super fun summer! Love you Braden!!!

Deep Thinking Night...

So tonight I don't know if it's the rain, long day with the kids, or no day at all with hubby! But I have come to the realization that I need some major changes in my life!!! So I sat and wrote the things I would like to change in myself and have decided to focus on a few each week. Hopefully when I start getting some of the things where I would like them to be I can also begin to work on finding myself a bit better of an attitude. Not saying that I don't LOVE my family and being the Mommy! I just think that I could make all of our lives so much better if I could center myself and be where I want to be. Love you all!

Bow Party!!!

I had the most fun yesterday! I was invited to a bow making party!!! It was such a blast to see everyones ideas and supplies. I had been in a bit of a bow making funk but this was just what I needed I even came home after and made a bunch more! M loves all her new stylish clips.
